The transeuropa e.V. association promotes art and culture among young people from Europe.
The association promotes the encounter of people with different experiences, opinions and ways of thinking.
The association wants everyone to be able to talk about their different opinions. Everyone should feel comfortable doing so. All opinions are equally valuable. People want to learn from each other.
Therefore, the association organises a performing arts festival in Hildesheim every three years. Performing arts are: All art forms in which people (performing artists) perform in front of other people (spectators).
The festival is called transeuropa festival. During the festival, young people from all over Europe who make art come to Hildesheim for several days. There they show their artistic activities and get to know each other. Other people from Hildesheim and from further away also come to watch and take part.
Anyone can become part of the association. The association board has two chair people. The first chair is always held by a student of cultural studies at the University of Hildesheim. This is currently Leonie Friedel. The person holding the first chair is also always part of the lead team of the transeuropa festival. The second chair is always held by a professor of cultural studies at the University of Hildesheim. Currently, this is Professor Anne-Marie Matzke.
