Since 1994 transeuropa²⁰⁰⁹ has been known as a young, european Theatre- and Performance Festival in Hildesheim.

transeuropa²⁰⁰⁹ concentrates on three focal points:

-    presenting innovative off-theater-productions
-    creating a network platform for young artists
-    reflecting a continental relevant topic

From May 14th – 20th, 2009, young artists from Belgium, Germany, Serbia and Turkey will come to the lower saxon province in order to deal with the collision of four cultures on stage, in discussions and at the dance.

Together with the guest countries, transeuropa²⁰⁰⁹ produces three shows, that will premiere during the festival. Also each partner country is represented by outstanding productions.
The open atmosphere of the festival makes it easy for the theatremakers to get in contact with each other.
With its artists and audience, transeuropa²⁰⁰⁹ discusses the continent’s borders, their shifting, annulment and their effects on our lives today. For this both experts, artists and the audience are invited in equal measure.
In performances, lectures and workshops the festival is looking for the answer to the question of bordervalues and thereby itself becomes a transboundary event.
Different cultures, language barriers and approaches complement each other and result in a versatile program full of premieres, discussions, utopias and parties.
